ICYMI: This week’s new PS4, Switch, and Xbox video game releases

Devil May Cry 5 leads this week’s lineup of new video game releases.

Let’s start the week with a quick roundup of the new video games heading to the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Devil May Cry 5 is the biggest release of the week, and comes to the Xbox One and PS4 on Friday. By all accounts it’s another excellent entry in the remarkably consistent action franchise, and another stunning example of Capcom’s late-generation production values. It looks like being another sure bet for the Japanese publisher, who have quietly returned to being one of the biggest names in gaming.

Pixel Crow’s smartly designed Beat Cop comes to all three console platforms. Originally released on PC in 2017, the game channels the aesthetics of ’80s cop TV shows to tell a non-linear story of crime and corruption in New York.

White Paper Games’ The Occupation also has an intriguing tale to tell. Wrapped up in a clever time-based mechanic, this adventure puts players in the shoes of an investigative reporter uncovering a story during a period of political unrest.

This week’s most light-hearted yarn can be found on the Nintendo 3DS. Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn takes the well-received 2010 Wii platformer, and adds a bunch of new mini-games, plus a much-needed new difficulty mode.

Check out the complete release lineup on each console platform.
