The Last of Us Part II’s creative director has revealed that Elli will be the only playable character in the game.

In an interview with IGN, creative director Richard Cambrier was asked if any other characters would be playable. To which Cambrier replied, “We aren’t saying anything about that.”

Initially, that’s quite a mysterious answer, and would likely have fans speculating like mad – particularly because The Last of Us had both Joel and Ellie playable.

Neil Druckmann quickly put a stop to all of that, jumping in with, “Ellie is the only playable character in the game.”

It would be an odd thing for Druckmann to simply lie about. This then raises the question of, “where is Joel?” to a fever pitch. So far he’s only featured in the first trailer, where he spoke to Ellie from off-screen.

The game was given a new E3 trailer, which was very exciting indeed; check out our thoughts on the latest trailer here.

The Last of Us Part II doesn’t have a release date scheduled, but is due out exclusively for PS4.
