The latest batch of Xbox One Free Play Days games are focused on action, speed, and mangling metal.

There can’t be many gamers who haven’t sampled the delights of Blizzard’s 6v6 character shooter. However, if you’re yet to try Overwatch, the game’s Origin Edition is now free on Xbox One as part of the latest Free Play Days promo. It can be an intimidating game for newcomers, but it’s also accessible, and most of all, a lot of fun.

Next up is a brand new game. F1 2020 was only released in July and is still performing well in the UK video games chart. The game is fully licenced and includes the full 2020 season roster of teams, drivers, and vehicles. For the first time, players can also create their own F1 team, compete with engine manufacturer, sponsors, and branding.

Finally, Wreckfest is an overlooked but highly enjoyable demolition derby racer. If you pine for the Destruction Derby series, this is a capable successor.

All three games are free to download and play for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members until the midnight PDT on August 23. 2020. All game progress and achievements carry over to purchased copies, and there are some sizeable price cuts on offer to encourage you.

We have a favour to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
