New England Patriots quarterback – and five-time Super Bowl Champion – Tom Brady will grace the cover of EA’s Madden NFL 18.

Electronic Arts have announced that GOAT Tom Brady will adorn the box art of Madden NFL 18. Brady’s long-overdue appearance marks the first time that teammates have been Madden cover athletes in back-to-back years, with last year’s edition featuring Patriots tight end, Rob Gronkowski.

Brady commented on the announcement in typically bullish fashion:

“The Madden NFL 18 cover is a great honor for me. Especially since I have been playing the game since growing up next to EA headquarters in the Bay Area. I’m not one to believe in curses, so I’m ready to take the challenge head on like always! It doesn’t stand a chance!!!”

Madden NFL 18 – which is being developed by EA Tiburon – is the first to be powered by Frostbite, the all-singing, all-dancing engine now in use across most of EA’s key properties. However, based on FIFA 17 and Mass Effect Andromeda, the jury’s still out on whether this is a completely good move. If nothing else, Madden NFL 18 should deliver a significant visual bump to players, crowds and stadiums. EA say that a brand new gameplay mode is also in the works, with more details to be announced at EA Play on June 10.

Madden NFL 18 will be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on Friday August 25, 2017. If you’re a subscriber to EA Access you’ll be able play the game for up to 10 hours starting on August 17, as part of its Play First Trial.
