The Rise of the Tomb Kings will come to Total War: Warhammer II in early 2018.

Sega and Creative Assembly have announced that the new campaign expansion for Total War: Warhammer II will be released on January 23, 2018.

Rise of the Tomb Kings introduces a new range of race-specific gameplay mechanics, victory objectives, and a generous dollop of world-building lore in which legions of skeletal warriors rise to rebuild their empire.

The expansion’s Tomb Kings opponents field armies of countless skeletal units, supported by stone constructs including the Tomb Scorpion, Necrosphinx and the massive Hierotitan. The new trailer shows the Tomb Kings taking to the battlefield:

Sega cite player feedback as the reason for Rise of the Tomb Kings not containing a supplementary story campaign. Instead it features two additional Legendary Lords – making a total of four – with each having their own skills, traits, quest-chains, war gear, and situational challenges.

You can get the full skinny on the campaign, and the expansion’s additional content, over on the Total War blog.

Players who pre-order Total War: Warhammer II – Rise of the Tomb Kings on Steam will also receive a 10% discount.
