Microsoft has confirmed the four video games coming to Xbox Games with Gold in January 2022.
The new year kicks off with a fresh collection of new downloadable games for Xbox Games with Gold and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. As usual, there’s not much to get too excited about, but three of the games are solid, and one is an all-time classic.
First up is NeuroVoider, a zippy twin-stick shooter RPG from Flying Oak that features cool pixel art and an enjoyable co-op mode.
Aground is a mining and crafting RPG with a surprisingly deep feature set. It also has a defined – but welcome – endgame, which is a rarity for the genre.
Treasure’s Radiant Silvergun is our pick from January’s free games. Vertically scrolling shoot ’em ups aren’t in vogue these days, but this is a genuine and timeless genre classic.
Space Invaders Infinity Gene, meanwhile, gives an old favourite a significant overhaul with flashy visuals and gameplay that – quite deliberately – evolves from its arcade roots.

Two of December’s games – The Escapists 2 and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet – remain available to download until December 31. Tropico 5 is available until January 15.
