New Xbox One releases

Rage 2 headlines the list of new Xbox One digital game releases for May 13-17, 2019.

The pick of the week’s new Xbox One releases is Rage 2, the unexpected follow-up to id Software’s 2011 post-apocalyptic open world action game.

It’s not a sequel anyone seemed to be yearning for, but with the amp turned right up to 11 –  and Avalanche Studios on co-development duties – it could well be the perfect game for summer. It’s a riotous spectacle of colour and violence, if nothing else.

Gamers with a more methodical approach to headshots should check out Rebellion’s remaster of the 2012 cult favourite, Sniper Elite V2.

Retro gaming enthusiasts might be tempted by Dragon’s Lair Trilogy, but your money would be better spent on Konami’s Castlevania Anniversary Collection. The new compilation features eight games from the series, stretching right back to the NES original.

All of next week’s games can be downloaded from the Xbox One digital store, or via the Microsoft online store. Here’s the full lineup.

We have a favour to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
