Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods and Transformers: Battlegrounds headline next week’s lineup of new Xbox One releases.
Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods – Part One is the new standalone expansion for Doom Eternal, a game we only liked a bit. id Software says that over its two parts, The Ancient Gods will be a fully-fledged Doom experience and a cut above the post-launch DLC most games receive.
Next week also sees the release of the first Transformers game on console since Activision lost the licence in 2018. Transformers: Battlegrounds is pitched as a “tactical warfare adventure” game by developer Coatsink. The game takes its cue from the animated series with bold and colourful visuals that take in locations on Earth and Cybertron. The game’s single-player campaign is complemented by Capture the Flag, Horde, and Last Stand multiplayer modes.
We’re also pleased to see Flying Oak’s rogue-lite platformer ScourgeBringer make the jump to Xbox as it leaves PC early access. It’s a fast-paced action game with lovely pixel art and audio from Joonas Turner.
Other new Xbox One releases include Axis Football 2020, Marcrotis: A Mother’s Journey, and Gonner 2.
Each new game can be purchased from the Xbox One digital games store or the Microsoft web store. We’ll keep this list updated throughout the week with any late additions.
