Undertale – the influential role-playing game from Toby Fox – comes to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One via Game Pass today.
Subscribing to Xbox Game Pass is a bit like subscribing to a pile of shame. But with a constant drip-feed of excellent games, it’s really hard not to recommend signing up.
Following the recent drop of AAA Bethesda games – and yesterday’s Outriders reveal – Microsoft has confirmed that the small but absolutely perfectly formed Undertale is joining Game Pass from today.
Undertale‘s arrival on Xbox consoles is long overdue. The game was first released on PC in 2015, where it became a word of mouth sensation and an overnight meme-generator. PlayStation and Switch versions followed in 2017 and 2018, cementing its position as one of the most innovative and subversive RPGs to be released in recent years.
If you haven’t experienced Undertale, we won’t spoil anything here. Suffice to say, it’s a must-play game for all Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
Undertale is also available to purchase directly from the Microsoft store and is priced at $14.99 in the US. It’s worth noting that due to a few console-specific enhancements – including a treat just for Xbox players – progression and save data transfer with the PC edition is not supported. It’s no big shame as the game is also a delight to replay.
Other games to join Xbox Game Pass this month include Madden NFL 21, Football Manager 2021, and Star Wars: Squadrons.
