Kirby Star Allies, the upcoming Nintendo Switch platformer, is getting a free demo on the Nintendo eShop.

Poor old Kirby. He’s usually the one Nintendo mascot to get the rough end of the stick. Not that his games are ever bad, but he always seems to be rolled out for duty during the dying days of a Nintendo console.

But not this time! With a modest lineup of first and second-party Switch titles on the slate in the first half of 2018, Kirby Star Allies has the job of keeping fans entertained while we wait for Nintendo Labo, and the big E3 game announcements.

This gimmick this time is that Kirby’s copy abilities can be mixed with fire, water and wind to create all new powers. The game also supports co-op play for up to four players. Based on the footage we’ve seen so far, it looks like being a fun, family adventure. It’s another Kirby game, then.

Kirby Star Allies is released on Nintendo Switch on March 16, 2018. The demo is rolling out around the world right now.

You can also keep up-to-date with our weekly Nintendo eShop updates. This week’s lineup includes Bridge Constructor PortalMulaka, and The Final Station.
