Here’s the full rundown of this week’s Nintendo eShop releases for Nintendo Switch, Wii U and 3DS.

This week’s big eShop release is not really a game at all, rather the first instalment of the two-part content expansion for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Pack 1 adds the ‘Trial of the Sword’ challenge mode, the Travel Medallion warp point feature, a hard mode, a variety of masks and costume items – including a Tingle suit, yay! – and the Hero’s Path map feature. The last of these really should have been included in the main game, but nonetheless we’re fascinated to find out just how much of Hyrule remains undiscovered.

It’s also a good week for indies, with Bulb Boy, and procedurally-generated roguelike, Gonner, both heading to the Nintendo Switch. The 3DS also gets its own version of Mighty Gunvolt Burst. If – like me – you’re a fan of the 3D feature of Nintendo’s handheld, this is probably the version we’d recommend.

Update 29/06/17: It looks like Bulb Boy has had its release date pushed back, sniff.

We have a favour to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
