The PlayStation Plus free games lineup for January 2021 includes three titles, one of which is exclusive to PS5.

PlayStation Plus once again has the measure of Xbox Games with Gold with a decent crop of games confirmed for January 2021.

Most notable is Maneater, the reasonably well-received “ShaRkPG” from Tripwire Interactive. Unfortunately, the game will only be available to PS Plus subscribers on PS5. Next-gen benefits include 60fps performance and 4K display.

Next up is Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the 2018 conclusion to the rebooted action-adventure trilogy. It’s a technically impressive game from Eidos-Montréal’s, and one packed with content if lacking in originality.

The final game from January’s PS Plus lineup is Greedfall, the striking action-RPG from Spiders and Focus Home interactive. The action-RPG arrived with little fanfare just over a year ago but has quietly gone about its business, growing a community of fans and recently crossing the one million sales mark. The 17th century-style fantasy setting is good fun, and the story is surprisingly memorable.

All three games are available to download between January 5 and February 1, 2021.

We have a favour to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
