August’s PlayStation Plus lineup includes the best game of E3 2020

Dark Light

One of the best games we ever played at E3 debuts as part of PlayStation Plus in August.

Although big AAA games grab most of the headlines during E3, it’s the smaller, unexpected indies that are often our favourites. Last summer, we grabbed some time with Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, a colourful, rough-and-tumble game from Mediatonic that combines battle-royale multiplayer with Takeshi’s Castle. The 20-minute demo was the most fun we had all week, and we’ve been following the game’s progress ever since.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is released next week and is part of August’s lineup of free PS Plus games. (It’s also on its way to PC.)

As a game that needs an active player base, we’re pleased to see it follow a launch model that did Rocket League no harm at all when it debuted in 2015. We hope that Fall Guys is just as successful.

August’s second free PS Plus game is the remastered version of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2‘s single-player campaign. Infinity Ward’s blockbuster FPS gets a handsome makeover from Beenox that somehow manages to be a reminder of simpler, more innocent times.

Both of next month’s free PlayStation Plus games will be available to download from August 4, 2020.
