Thanks to a Walmart listing leak, the previously rumoured Team Sonic Racing has now been officially revealed.

Developer Sumo Digital, who has cut its teeth on racing classics like TOCA and Outrun, released this trailer:

The official description reads:

“Team Sonic Racing arrives this Winter! Race in a team with your friends (or against them) both offline and online, and choose from a variety of characters and tracks in the Sonic universe!

“Team Sonic Racing is being developed by Sumo Digital, well-known for their fantastic racing titles. We’ll reveal more about the game (and we’ll have it playable) at E3, so if you’re around, come give it a try!”

The game leaked earlier on Walmart’s official website, with some information on the game – likely prompting the official announcement today.

There are fifteen characters in the game, and up to twelve players can compete in races – and four players in split-screen.

Car customisation will also feature, and there will be the usual single-player adventure mode along with the multiplayer.

There’s no specific release date, but the game is due out on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch this winter.
