Konami announce that England legend David Beckham has signed a long-term deal as latest PES Legend Ambassador.

Beckham is the latest football star to join Konami’s roster of PES ambassadors – which also includes Diego Maradona, and Luis Suárez – and signs just in time to start work promoting the upcoming PES 2018, which is due for release on September 14, 2017.

In a press statement issued by Konami, Beckham apparently said:

“It’s a great honour to join the roster of legends that work with Konami as PES Ambassadors. I look forward to seeing my career represented in this fantastic game, and working with such a talented team of people who obviously love football as much as I do.”

Several versions of Beckham – from key points in his football career – will be featured in the PES 2018‘s myClub mode. There will be five eras represented, covering his early years playing in England – and for England – as well as his time in Spain, Italy, and the US. Konami’s proprietary scanning and animation systems will once again be put to work to capture Beckham’s playing style and abilities.

Jonas Lygaard, senior brand director at Konami, added:

“David Beckham is rightfully a legend within the game, and we are delighted to welcome him to the PES family. His fantastic career and all he has achieved will be faithfully recreated for those playing PES 2018, and we look forward to working with him as we unite to promote PES 2018 as the definitive football title.”

PES 2018 – or Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 as purists don’t call it – will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 14, 2017.
